Services

Heater servicing and repairs.

The heaters fitted to modern ambulances are very effective and require very little maintenance outside of normal servicing but the importance of servicing them cannot be over emphasised.

Ambulance are usually fitted with either an Eberspacher or Webasto Diesel heater. Both operate using the same principal of burning diesel in a chamber to heat up a cast metal body. At the same time cool air from the saloon is sucked in and blown across the outside of the now heated body and returned to the saloon.

The heaters will heat the inside of the vehicle to a very cosy 24 degrees centigrade and hold it there but there are factors to be mindful of.

  • Opening the side or rear doors will allow all of the hot air to rush out.
  • Diesel heaters take time to generate heat, typically it takes a few minutes before any heat can be felt at the vent.
  • Heaters have a start up and cool down cycle. This means that if a heater is turned on it will take time to fire up and when turned off it will continue to run until the unit is cool enough to stop.
  • Heaters obviously require fuel and battery power so if the battery (main/auxiliary) is down on power or the fuel level is low it may effect the heater.
  • Servicing is essential, especially with Eberspacher. The burners in these heaters are sealed with paper gaskets and they crack over time.

We are trained to service, diagnose and repair heaters and we are familiar with most vehicle converters builds. Our vehicles carry diagnostics equipment, burners, fans controllers and service kits to ensure we can get you up a running with minimal downtime.

Control systems.

Modern control systems are very reliable but they do fail from time to time and do require repair. We hold a large quantity of spare parts at our site and can usually carry out repairs very quickly.

There are several different options available for ambulance system control such as Genisys, Standby RSG & Acetech. Usually the system will link into the vehicles Canbus system to allow some functions to be automated dependant on the vehicles status.

We are trained in all of them and have good connections with the manufacturers for additional support.

Emergency warning systems.

At Transim we hold a large stock of emergency vehicle lighting and audible warning equipment and also have a large network of suppliers to get your vehicle heard with the minimum delay.

Steps and floors.

We have vast experience in repairing all commonly used steps and hold a variety of parts for either a temporary or permanent repair.

The ambulance floor can be subjected to unique range of challenges whether it be hazardous fluid spills or very specific loads caused by incubators or stretchers. We have experience of repairing ambulance flooring and have you covered.
